Sauna

The use of the term sauna is not specifically intended to refer to the heating structures used in Finland, but rather to a general air bath intended to warm the body. The temperature is high, 80-120 °C, so that the sauna-goer starts sweating quickly. Sweating is experienced as cleansed.

Sauna step-by-step plan

Step 1: Hygiene

Start your sauna session with a relaxing lukewarm shower. It has several advantages; You enter the sauna nice and clean and fresh and you let your skin get used to a warm temperature, which opens up your pores. This improves the perspiration process. Don't forget to dry off thoroughly after showering, as this also helps your skin to sweat more easily during the sauna session.

Step 2: Warm up

What is important for the ultimate round of sauna is: gradually heat up! Therefore, take a foot bath after a warm shower, so that your body can prepare for the heat of the sauna. Sit with your feet in the foot bath for about 5 to 10 minutes. You will have some time to chat with your sauna buddy before you enjoy the sauna in silence.

Step 3: Enjoy the sweat

It's time to to sweat! Make sure you have warmed up a bit before entering the sauna. Choose a sauna with a temperature that feels comfortable for you. We give you a tip: keep your sauna visit around 15 minutes for optimal results. But if you want to stay in it for a shorter time, no worries! Even 5 minutes can work wonders. Feel comfortable leaving the sauna as soon as the heat no longer feels comfortable.

Step 4: Cool down

It's time to enjoy cooling down. This step is super important, otherwise you run the risk of a major headache and the entire round will have less effect on your blood circulation. Take your time here and build up the cooling gradually. A tip is to start by refreshing your hands and feet or to apply the Kneipp method. Are you a real daredevil who steps into the plunge pool with dedication? Or would you rather cool off in the open air and under the mist shower?

Step 5: Warm up

You may not expect it right away, but after cooling down it is time to bring your body back to its 'normal' temperature and the best way to do this is... a warm foot bath! Fortunately, you can also take a dip in a heated pool to warm yourself up. It's actually a bit like a warm hug for your body. That feels good!

Step 6: Rest

Finally, you can relax in a serene environment. Whether you choose a quiet lounge, a cozy restaurant, a sunny sunbathing area or a cozy  rest area, take at least 20 minutes for this. Warming up and cooling down requires a lot of energy from you. Therefore, do not forget to drink well and eat enough. Recharge yourself completely and feel reborn! And when you're ready, you can always start over for another round of sauna adventure. Enjoy it!
